The World of Wheat
The story takes place in a world inhabited by foods made from wheat.
Take macaroni, for example. They come in so many shapes and colors, and even among themselves, they constantly squabble—over trivial things like differences in color or shape. Yet, the moment another pasta appears, they instantly forget their differences and unite as one.
Furthermore, when non-wheat foods such as meat products show up, all wheat products band together in solidarity. Shamelessly and effortlessly, they leap over the boundaries of shape, color, and type that they had drawn themselves.
Nine
Quite by chance, a wiener sausage with absolutely no individuality wanders into this world.
Having lived in the same package with his identical siblings since birth, he has never seen anyone of a different shape. Because they all look indistinguishable, even to themselves, they wear numbered plates around their necks.
With no concept of names, they are identified solely by their numbers. The one who stumbles into the wheat world is the ninth from a ten-piece pack—a wiener known simply as “Nine.”
What will become of Nine?
From being thrown into prison to dodging royal castle guards to carry out a rescue mission, a tumultuous adventure awaits.
Individuality
Having been warmly welcomed into the wheat world, Nine returns home carrying a gift: individuality. Thanks to this gift, the numbers once used to distinguish each wiener are no longer needed, and the number plates are cast away… but what follows?
In Nine’s world, where everyone looked identical, there had never been conflict over trivial differences. Now that they possess individuality, what does the future hold for them?
